The academy will be the foundation of the club, and it is continuously reviewing players’ ability to step up an age group and be tested at the next level. If a coach feels a player is ready to take those next steps, the player and family will be notified and introduced to the older age group for regular sessions and game time.
The USL Academy team is part of the USL Academy, a national network of elite youth soccer clubs that provide a clear pathway to professional soccer. The USL Academy is designed to provide an unrivaled youth development experience that is unmatched in North America.
The club will invite international teams on a regular basis to compete against its different age groups, ensuring players are exposed to different playing styles.
However, as the stadium undergoes a turf transformation over the next 12 months, Lancaster FC will train and compete at a combination of Clipper Magazine Stadium, Tylus Field (F&M Men’s/Women’s Soccer Field), and Weaver Field.
Lancaster FC’s USL Academy team will compete in the USLA Mid-Atlantic division and against other USLA teams across the country. The club will put emphasis on USLA scrimmages and round-robin weekend games vs other USLA teams. The USLA league will run in the summer, spring, and fall seasons. When possible, cross-country travel for tournaments will be avoided when USLA games closer to home can be provided for players and families without sacrificing college coach interest.
